The CMEC-contracted project includes two parts - goods supply and civil construction, each accounting for 50% of the contract value. The first part includes procurement of China-made rails, sleepers, rail fasteners, locomotives, rolling stock, large engineering machinery, vehicle accessories etc. The second part involves 1500km railway reconstruction and 300km railway improvement.

The project’s financing agreement signing ceremony/video commencement ceremony was witnessed by Argentine President Cristina Fernández and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the latter’s state visit to Argentina.

The project is under construction.
