Today, Xinhua News Agency published a feature report on the Attanagalla Water Supply Plant Project, which is being undertaken by CMEC, the headquarters of CMEC Group, on an EPC turnkey basis. This project is the largest individual water supply plant project in Sri Lanka to date. It has not only improved local public health and living conditions, but also injected new vitality into Sri Lanka’s economic and social development, making it a landmark benchmark project in the field of major livelihood infrastructure cooperation between China and Sri Lanka.

The report notes that this livelihood project has not only solved the water scarcity problem for more than 600,000 local residents, but has also successfully driven the development of rural tourism in the surrounding Arawwawala Village through ecological protection and road construction. Traditional craft experiences such as weaving and hand-drum making, once little known, have now become popular attractions for tourists, charting a new path for the local countryside of “driving tourism through water and enriching the people through tourism.”
