From May 11 to 14, Chen Jun, Deputy General Manager and Chief Compliance Officer of China Machinery Engineering Group Corporation (CMEC Group), paid a business research visit to Uruguay and carried out commercial activities.

Visit to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Uruguay

During his stay in Uruguay, Chen Jun visited Huang Yazhong, Chinese Ambassador to Uruguay, and reported on CMEC Group’s business operations in the Uruguayan market. Ambassador Huang Yazhong acknowledged and encouraged CMEC Group’s localized operations in Uruguay, expressing the hope that the company would smoothly and efficiently complete the remaining work of the Uruguay 500kV power transmission and transformation project, and seize the strategic opportunities arising from the local energy transition and clean energy development against the new geopolitical landscape, thereby playing a positive role in the high-quality joint implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Chen Jun thanked the Embassy for its long-standing support and assistance, stating that CMEC Group would continue to deepen its presence in the Uruguayan market, actively fulfill its corporate social responsibilities, promote deeper integration of technological innovation and localized operations, build differentiated competitive advantages, and serve local development with more livelihood-enhancing, high-quality projects.

Mission to the Uruguay 500kV Power Transmission and Transformation Project

Chen Jun went deep into the project site, extended his regards to the front-line team, learned about the core processes, inspected project quality, and witnessed the important milestone of the 500kV long-line power transmission. Regarding safety production during the remaining phase of the project, Chen Jun set forth clear requirements, emphasizing strict adherence to safety norms and standards. After listening to a special report from the project team on project progress and market development, Chen Jun recognized the team’s determination to overcome challenges, stressing that every effort must be made to ensure high-quality delivery of the project, cultivate core customers, and continuously consolidate and enhance CMEC Group’s brand influence in the local market.

Exchange with Local Legal Counsel

To further strengthen compliance management and risk prevention, Chen Jun held in-depth discussions with a local Uruguayan legal team, emphasizing that in localized operations, full advantage should be taken of the local legal expertise to carry out all work in accordance with laws and regulations, build a harmonious and stable labor ecosystem, and support the company’s long-term development in the Uruguayan market with sound labor relations.
