Wang Bo Conducts a Series of Business Activities in the Maldives

From March 19 to 22, Wang Bo, Assistant to the General Manager of SINOMACH and Party Secretary and Chairman of CMEC Group, visited the Maldives to conduct a series of business activities. He met with H.E. Kong Xianhua, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, attended the signing ceremony for a housing project between CMEC Group and the Bank of Maldives, and held business talks with several Maldivian cabinet ministers and relevant project owners.

Wang Bo expressed his gratitude to the Embassy for its consistent guidance and support for CMEC Group’s operations and development in the Maldives. He provided a detailed overview of the company’s business progress in the country and its innovative strategies for future development. Wang stated that CMEC Group possesses world-class capabilities in industrial planning, consulting and design, engineering construction, and full-industry-chain services. Having successfully delivered a series of landmark projects in the Maldives, the company has established a solid foundation for growth. Under the Embassy’s guidance, CMEC Group is committed to leveraging its strengths to further deepen and elevate the bilateral partnership to a higher level and quality.

Ambassador Kong Xianhua highly commended CMEC Group for its positive role in advancing China-Maldives economic and trade cooperation. He expressed his hope that CMEC Group and its subsidiaries will continue to align their technological and resource advantages with the Maldives’ development needs, and persist in their dedicated efforts in areas such as infrastructure construction, the blue economy, and green development, thereby contributing to the long-term friendship between the two nations and the building of a China-Maldives community with a shared future.

During his visit, Wang Bo accompanied Ambassador Kong on a trip to Addu City in southern Maldives for an on-site inspection. They met with the Mayor of Addu City, relevant technical officials, and project managers, and conducted a field visit to their collaborative project sites.

Visiting the Bank of Maldives and Attending the Housing Project Signing Ceremony

During his visit, Wang Bo called on the Bank of Maldives (BML) and attended the signing ceremony for a joint housing project comprising 1,224 units. He held discussions with Ahmed Ali Habeeb, Chairperson of BML, and Mohamed Shareef, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BML, on leveraging complementary strengths and deepening cooperation. This project represents a significant achievement in their collaboration on livelihood infrastructure. Upon completion, it will effectively improve local residents living conditions and hold great significance for the Maldives’ urban development and social welfare. The commercial contract was formally signed by Hassan Shaam, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of BML, and Xie Ke, Deputy General Manager of CMEC Group, as the authorized representatives of their respective parties.

Meetings with Relevant Maldivian Ministries and Business Partners

While in the Maldives, Wang Bo held separate meetings with Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism and Environment; Ahmed Shiyam, Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources; Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL); and Brigadier General (Retd) Ali Zuhair, Managing Director of Maldives Housing Development Corporation (HDC), during which a series of cooperation agreements were signed. He also held discussions with Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Minister of Health; Mohamed Ameen, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation; Aishath Shiham, Minister of Social and Family Development; and Abdulla Muththalib, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development.

Wang Bo thanked the Maldivian government ministries for their longstanding trust and strong support for CMEC Group. He noted that the company enjoys a profound cooperative foundation and fruitful results with the Maldivian side, with broad prospects for future collaboration. He stated that the company will further mobilize its advantageous resources, innovate investment and financing models, and intensify cooperation with the Maldives in key areas such as green energy, tourism infrastructure, the marine economy, and social welfare. By continuing its dedicated efforts, CMEC Group aims to support the Maldives’ economic diversification and achieve mutual benefit and common development.

Convening a Symposium with CMEC Group’s Maldivian Entities and Expatriate Staff

Wang Bo chaired a symposium with CMEC Group’s entities and expatriate staff in the Maldives. He conducted a comprehensive review of the market operations in the country and listened in detail to reports from key local staff on market development, project execution, and personal growth. He then outlined specific requirements for the next phase of work:

1. Accelerate new business track development: Focus on the unique characteristics and needs of the Maldivian market, identify customer pain points, leverage SINOMACH’s distinctive strengths, fully coordinate internal group resources, and continuously cultivate new business growth drivers.

2. Steadily advance business model innovation: Centered on establishing a foundation for sustainable development, actively explore and implement new models based on market analysis, customer insights, business model design, and resource allocation, with a focus on project success to comprehensively enhance capabilities in model innovation and resource deployment.

3. Continuously strengthen capacity building: The Maldives team must strive to build a learning-oriented and self-evolving organization, foster multi-skilled talent through practical experience, and accelerate the development of self-evolving capabilities to address new environments and challenges.

Wang Bo, on behalf of the company, expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of colleagues working long-term overseas. He encouraged them to continuously enhance their adaptability and innovative mindset, seize regional development opportunities, drive business breakthroughs centered on value creation, and consistently elevate SINOMACH’s overall brand image and influence.

Xie Ke, Deputy General Manager of CMEC Group, along with heads from the Strategic Investment Department, Operations Management Department, Finance Management Department, 2nd Complete Plant Department, and CMEC New Energy, participated in the aforementioned activities.
