Wang Bo Conducts a Series of Business Activities in Sri Lanka
From March 16 to 19, Wang Bo, Assistant to the General Manager of SINOMACH and Party Secretary and Chairman of both CMEC Group and CAMCE, visited Sri Lanka to conduct a series of business activities, and attended a business research symposium organized by China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure). During his visit, Chairman Wang met with H.E. Qi Zhenhong, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, held working talks with Sri Lankan officials including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism; the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development; the Secretary to the Ministry of Energy and Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB); and the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). He also visited the Bank of China Colombo Branch.
Attending Sinosure’s Market Research Symposium with Chinese Enterprises in Sri Lanka
Wang Bo expressed gratitude on behalf of CMEC Group and CAMCE to Mr. Sheng Hetai, General Manager of Sinosure, for personally organizing this overseas business research and exchange event and for the long-standing, robust support Sinosure has provided to the company’s international operations. He reviewed the company’s development journey in Sri Lanka and shared CMEC Group’s insights and practices regarding enhancing collaboration among Chinese enterprises, innovating business models, and strengthening risk management capabilities under the current circumstances. Wang stated that Sri Lanka is a key market for the company in South Asia, where it has successfully delivered a series of landmark projects vital to the nation’s economy and people’s livelihoods—achievements made possible thanks to Sinosure’s sustained support. Facing the complex situation that Sri Lanka has been under economic pressure for nearly a decade with challenges and opportunities intertwined, the company will, under Sinosure’s guidance and support, adopt an innovative mindset to unlock market potential, explore new business areas, and make new contributions to promoting China-Sri Lanka economic and trade cooperation and the high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road.

Meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka
Wang Bo extended sincere thanks to the Embassy for its long-term support and guidance to CMEC Group and CAMCE in their operations and development in Sri Lanka. He provided a comprehensive overview of the company’s historical development, strategic transformation achievements, and the operational status of its member enterprises in the country. He emphasized that CMEC Group and its member enterprises possess extensive coverage in industrial construction, strong R&D capabilities, a high degree of internationalization, and rich industrial chain resources—all of which align closely with Sri Lanka’s urgent needs for industrial upgrading and social welfare improvement. The company is willing, under the Embassy’s guidance, to continue deepening its presence in the Sri Lankan market, leverage its strengths, and strive for deeper, higher-level, and higher-quality cooperation.
Ambassador Qi Zhenhong highly commended CMEC Group, CAMCE, and their subsidiaries for their outstanding contributions to Sri Lanka’s socio-economic development. He provided a detailed briefing on Sri Lanka’s recent economic situation, noting that the country’s steady recovery trend presents a new window of opportunity for Chinese enterprises. He encouraged them to act with patience, perseverance, and enthusiasm; to adopt a long-term perspective and proceed steadily; and to leverage their innovative technological advantages to make new contributions to the enduring friendship and strategic cooperation between China and Sri Lanka.

Meetings with Sri Lankan Government Ministries and Local Partners
During his stay, Wang Bo met separately with Hon. Vijitha Herath, Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism; Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development; Mr. K.T.M. Udayanga Hemapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Energy and Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB); and Mr. Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Wang Bo thanked the Sri Lankan government ministries and industry organizations for their longstanding trust and strong support for CMEC Group and its member enterprises. He noted the profound traditional friendship and solid foundation for cooperation between China and Sri Lanka, highlighting broad prospects for future collaboration. The company is willing to further mobilize and leverage its advantages in engineering design consulting and industrial construction, innovate investment and financing models, and strengthen cooperation with Sri Lanka in key areas such as clean energy, industrial modernization, digital infrastructure, and sports stadiums, thereby making more positive contributions to enhancing China-Sri Lanka friendship in the new era.
During his visit, Wang Bo also met with Ms. Liu Ying, General Manager of the Bank of China Colombo Branch. The two sides had an in-depth exchange on jointly exploring Sri Lanka’s market potential, innovating cooperation models, and promoting the internationalization of the Renminbi.





Convening a Symposium with CMEC Group’s Sri Lankan Enterprises and Expatriate Staff
Wang Bo chaired a symposium with CMEC Group’s enterprises and expatriate staff in Sri Lanka. He conducted a comprehensive review of the overall business operations of these entities and listened in detail to reports from key local staff representatives on business development, project execution, and personal growth. He then issued specific directives:
1. Broaden strategic business perspectives: Face the challenges of the local market environment head-on, assess market opportunities based on SINOMACH’s resources and capabilities, accelerate entry into new market segments, and advance new business models.
2. Build hard-core technological capabilities: Solidly implement the company’s strategic transformation into a technology-driven, specialized engineering firm, enhance synergy among professional resources, and forge market competitiveness driven by technological advantage.
3. Continuously strengthen capacity building: The Sri Lankan team must break free from entrenched mindsets and path dependencies, clearly define directions for transformation and capability enhancement based on developmental needs, intensify the cultivation of multi-skilled talent, and proactively address challenges arising from environmental changes and various uncertainties.
Wang Bo expressed his appreciation for the dedicated efforts of colleagues working long-term overseas. He encouraged them to maintain their intellectual vigor and innovative spirit, to evolve amidst the industry’s ongoing transformation, and to continuously enhance CMEC Group’s influence in Sri Lanka and the unified brand image of SINOMACH.
