Xie Ke Visits Iraq and the UAE for Project Inspections and Business Engagement
From December 20 to 24, Xie Ke, Deputy General Manager of China Machinery Engineering Group Corporation (CMEC Group), visited Iraq and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to conduct on-site project inspections, operational reviews, and business engagements.
Inspecting the Salah Al-Din Oil & Gas-Fired Power Plant Project in Iraq
On December 20, Mr. Xie visited the Salah Al-Din 2×630MW Oil & Gas-Fired Power Plant Project in Iraq—the flagship initiative executed by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), headquarters of CMEC Group. He held a working session with Mr. Hamoud, the plant manager representing the owner, and the CMEC project team. Mr. Hamoud highly commended CMEC’s professional operation and maintenance capabilities, expressing gratitude for the project team’s consistent success over the past three years in ensuring reliable power supply during peak summer demand—a critical contribution to Iraq’s grid stability. In response, Mr. Xie thanked the owner for its continued trust and reaffirmed CMEC’s unwavering commitment to high-standard project execution and deepening bilateral cooperation. He also praised the project team for their professionalism and dedication, urging them to closely align with the company’s strategic objectives, leverage their core strengths in specialization and localization, and support the sustainable and healthy growth of CMEC’s presence in the Iraqi market.

Meetings with Iraqi Government Officials
On December 21, Mr. Xie held separate meetings with Mr. Adel Karim, Advisor to the Energy Committee of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, and Mr. Mohammed Tufaili, Deputy Minister of Electricity of Iraq. The discussions focused on the progress of the Salah Al-Din power plant project and ways to further strengthen China-Iraq energy cooperation. Iraqi officials expressed appreciation for CMEC’s significant contributions to the country’s power sector and welcomed the company to expand its footprint in Iraq by implementing more people-centered infrastructure projects. Mr. Xie emphasized that CMEC has always attached great importance to its partnership with the Iraqi government. He reiterated the company’s commitment to leveraging its competitive advantages to advance project implementation and market development, thereby supporting Iraq’s industrial advancement and improvement of livelihoods.

Reviewing the B9 Integrated Oil & Gas Field and Gas-Turbine Power Plant Project
On December 22, Mr. Xie traveled to the B9 Integrated Oil & Gas Field and Gas-Turbine Power Plant Project site, which is being constructed by China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. (CAMCE)—one of CMEC Group’s member enterprises. He conducted an on-site inspection of construction progress and extended his appreciation to the frontline staff for their steadfast dedication. He lauded the project’s achievements, noting that it has significantly enhanced CMEC Group’s brand reputation in the Middle East’s oil and gas engineering sector. With regard to the gas-turbine power plant segment executed by CMEC under the B9 program, Mr. Xie instructed the execution team to cherish this strategic opportunity, enhance integrated planning, proactively drive all workstreams forward, and ensure timely and smooth handover. He underscored that the successful delivery of this project exemplifies the company’s commitment to its “Three New” development pathway—entering a new development stage, applying a new development philosophy, and fostering a new development dynamic—and serves as a solid foundation for CMEC Group’s transformation into a technology-driven, specialized engineering enterprise.
During the visit, Mr. Xie also brought together the CMEC and CAMCE project teams for a joint meeting with Mr. Chang Guangfa, Vice President of United Energy Group and President of its Iraq Regional Company. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on project coordination and jointly pledged to strengthen collaboration, address execution challenges, and ensure high-quality project completion.

Visiting the Middle East Regional Office and Chairing a Market Development Seminar in the UAE
On December 23, Mr. Xie visited CMEC Group’s Middle East Regional Office in the UAE and chaired a market development seminar focused on the UAE market. He stressed that all operating units in the UAE must closely align with the company’s overarching strategy and fully embrace the principles of “Stability, Specialization, Excellence, and Resilience.” He called for enhanced internal synergy to meet the requirements of high-quality, resilient growth and contribute meaningfully to CMEC Group’s vision of becoming a leading technology-oriented, specialized engineering firm.

Senior executives from relevant business departments and the Middle East Regional Office of CMEC Group accompanied Mr. Xie throughout the trip and participated in the inspections and business activities.
