On December 2, China Machinery Engineering Group Corporation (CMEC Group) successfully held the third session of its “Innovation in Action • Value Reimagined” brand series—an exchange meeting themed “Technology Empowering Core Business and Collaborative, Chain-Based Global Expansion.” Attending the event were Wang Bo, Party Secretary and Chairman of CMEC Group; Xie Ke, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of CMEC Group; Wang Zhenhua, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences (CAAMS); and Zhou Junhong, Party Secretary of Beijing Materials Handling Research Institute (BMHRI).

Ren Jian, an expert from CAAMS, delivered a presentation titled “Areas of Synergy in Core Businesses,” systematically introducing the academy’s distinctive capabilities in agricultural and pastoral equipment, integrated agricultural development, agro-product processing, and modern agriculture. He also shared strategic approaches to fostering internal collaboration within the group. Sun Changzheng, another CAAMS expert, focused on “High-Yield, High-Quality, and Eco-Circular Agricultural Engineering Solutions,” elaborating on an end-to-end agricultural engineering service model centered on “planning and consulting first, supported by equipment and technology, and integrated through turnkey project delivery.” He highlighted representative case studies in farmland infrastructure, food processing, and environmental resource management.

Zhou Junhong, Party Secretary of BMHRI, provided an overview of the institute’s achievements and landmark projects in ropeways, warehousing and logistics, lifting machinery, inspection and testing, and international operations. Experts Du Junming, Song Wei, and Hu Xiaofei then shared insights on core technologies, innovation capabilities, and overseas expansion experiences in ropeways, warehousing and logistics, and lifting equipment segments, respectively.

In his concluding remarks, Wang Bo emphasized that CMEC Group is hosting this thematic exchange—“Technology Empowering Core Business and Collaborative, Chain-Based Global Expansion”—at a pivotal moment: as the 14th Five-Year Plan draws to a close and strategic planning for the 15th Five-Year Plan is underway. The event’s theme closely aligns with SINOMACH’s overarching strategic directions of “technology, equipment, and internationalization,” and represents a concrete step toward strengthening internal synergy and advancing the global outreach of SINOMACH-branded equipment. He noted that the technologies and products presented by the experts are deeply rooted in cutting-edge innovation, fully reflecting SINOMACH’s robust technological capabilities and profound industrial heritage.

On international operations and business synergy, Wang Bo shared the following insights and recommendations:

First, maintain strategic resolve and pursue internationalization with prudence.

The notion that “going global is no longer optional—it’s a matter of survival” has become an industry-wide consensus. Yet the path overseas is rarely smooth. International expansion must be approached rationally and thoughtfully. As pioneers of China’s “going global” initiative and core members of the national team, CMEC and CAMCE must, during the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period, fully leverage their functional strengths with a strong sense of mission—to advance SINOMACH’s core strategic priorities overseas and support the global rollout of SINOMACH-branded equipment and manufacturing solutions.

Second, continuously strengthen new capabilities.

In today’s volatile market environment, CMEC Group’s redefined role as a technology-driven, specialized engineering company demands higher standards in international operations. Overseas marketing teams must constantly upgrade their competencies, deeply tap into SINOMACH’s rich reservoir of scientific resources and flagship products, and develop a precise understanding of overseas market needs—ensuring effective alignment between our products, technologies, services, and local demand. This will help avoid mismatches between supply and demand, which often lead to wasted effort and suboptimal outcomes.

Third, deepen strategic, value-based, and innovation-driven synergy.

All collaborating entities should treat international expansion as a long-term strategic priority. Sustainable synergies can only be achieved through complementary strengths, shared benefits, and extended cooperation along the industrial chain.

Fourth, start with precision and scale steadily.

Collaboration should not begin with broad, sweeping initiatives. Instead, it should focus initially on the most mature, representative, and competitively differentiated business areas. For example, collaboration between CMEC Group and CAAMS could begin with agricultural engineering—jointly developing “small yet beautiful” projects in food and oilseed processing, which typically feature strong self-repayment capacity, high added value, and close alignment with local livelihood needs.

The event was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance with video conferencing. It was attended by over 70 executives and key personnel from CMEC Group’s headquarters—including the Department of Operations Management, the Department of Science and Technology Development, as well as various business units and subsidiaries—and from member enterprises including CAMCE, CNEEC, IPPR, CMIE, China Jikan Research Institute of Engineering Investigations and Design Co., Ltd., CHPI, and CEEDI.
