Chairman Wang Bo expressed gratitude to President Muizzu for taking the time to meet during the busy schedule of the summit and commemorative events. He reviewed the series of achievements made by CMEC Group and its member enterprises in housing, power, and clean energy projects in the Maldives—achievements made possible through the President’s strong support. Wang Bo stated that CMEC Group will leverage SINOMACH’s comprehensive strengths—broad industrial coverage, robust R&D capabilities, high internationalization, and a complete industrial chain—to deepen alignment with Maldives Vision 2040. The company is committed to implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state on comprehensive strategic cooperation, advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and contributing SINOMACH’s strength to the sustainable economic, social, and environmental development of the Maldives.
President Muizzu highly commended CMEC Group and its subsidiaries for their outstanding contributions to the sustainable economic development of the Maldives over the years. He particularly highlighted the rooftop photovoltaic power station constructed in 2015, which introduced the concept of a “green energy community” to the Maldives. Having operated safely and stably for ten years, it has become a flagship demonstration project for clean energy promotion, receiving widespread public attention and acclaim. This success has injected new momentum into expanding and deepening China-Maldives cooperation. President Muizzu warmly reaffirmed his consistent support for future collaboration. He expressed hope that CMEC Group and its member enterprises will continue to leverage their strengths to participate in socioeconomic development across energy, infrastructure, ocean economy, green and low-carbon initiatives, and sustainable development, making further contributions to the diversification of the Maldivian economy and the improvement of people’s livelihoods.
During the meeting, and under the witness of President Muizzu, Chairman Wang Bo and Deputy General Manager Xie Ke, representing CMEC Group, signed two key agreements with relevant Maldivian government agencies:
· MoU on the Development of Fisheries and Maritime Logistics Hub in Addu, Southern Maldives
· Contract Agreement on the Fifth Power Development Project Phase II
Prior to the meeting, Chairman Wang Bo held discussions with Chinese Ambassador Kong Xianhua on CMEC Group’s deep engagement and continuous expansion across multiple engineering and construction sectors in the Maldives. Ambassador Kong encouraged CMEC Group and its subsidiaries to continue leveraging their world-class consulting, design, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) capabilities, as well as their strong international competitiveness, to deepen China-Maldives friendship through high-quality project delivery and contribute new momentum to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
