Recently, the completion ceremony for Section B of the CMEC-undertaken Sumbe (Cuanza Sul) Hospital project—covering installation and renovation works—was held in Angola. This marks the entry of the project into its warranty phase. Angolan President João Lourenço attended the ceremony to unveil the hospital, accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, Minister of Health Sílvia Lutucuta, and Governor of Cuanza Sul Province Mário Nascimento.
At the ceremony, President Lourenço highly commended CMEC Group for its significant contributions to Angola's infrastructure development and expressed heartfelt appreciation for the timely completion and high-quality construction of the Sumbe (Cuanza Sul) Hospital.
He noted that the hospital is the largest comprehensive medical facility in southern Angola, serving multiple surrounding provinces including Benguela and Huambo. The hospital will provide the Angolan people with more convenient and higher-quality healthcare services and have a profoundly positive impact on improving public welfare. This includes creating direct and indirect employment opportunities, stimulating the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises related to healthcare, and enhancing local productivity.
The Sumbe (Cuanza Sul) Hospital has been designed and constructed strictly in accordance with European medical building standards, ensuring that both the design philosophy and material selection meet advanced European standards. CMEC was responsible for the supply, construction, and installation of the project. Despite the complex technical requirements and stringent quality control systems, the project team drew on CMEC Group’s professional strengths and extensive experience in medical building construction. They paid meticulous attention to detail and maintained strict quality control throughout the execution and management of the project, successfully completing the task on schedule with a strong sense of professionalism and responsibility. The completion of the project not only provides local residents with healthcare services meeting European standards but also contributes the wisdom and strength of CMEC Group to the high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Representatives from relevant business units of CMEC also attended the completion ceremony.
