CMEC Group Signs Kampala Metropolitan Transmission System Improvement Project EPC Contract

On August 7, CMEC Group Headquarters (CMEC), as the leader of the consortium, signed the EPC contract with Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) for the “Kampala Metropolitan Transmission System Improvement Project (Lot 1 and Lot 2)”. CMEC Group General Manager Fang Yanshui and Deputy General Manager Li Kan attended the event online and witnessed the signing of the contract. A team headed by UETCL CEO Joshua Karamagi attended the signing ceremony in person. 
Before the signing of the contract, the two sides held friendly and in-depth talks, during which Fang said that CMEC has accumulated rich experience and made excellent achievements in similar projects. The project team will, by relying on its professionalism and abilities, fulfil its duties in a responsible manner and ensure high-quality delivery of the project, and hope to take the opportunity to conduct deeper cooperation with UETCL and jointly advance the electric power industry, improve the people’s lives and promote economic development.
Joshua Karamagi extended his congratulations and thanks to CMEC, appreciated its excellent performance and great influence in the field of international project contracting, spoke highly of the close cooperation between the two sides, and looked forward to a better vision of long-term cooperation of the two sides in more projects. 
Financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), it is the first EPC project of CMEC in Uganda. Upon its completion, the project will significantly accelerate the grid improvement process of the capital of Uganda. The signing of the contract demonstrates the strengths of CMEC in the field of electrical energy and its determination in exploring the East African market, laying a solid foundation for further exploring the market of East Africa.
