Confronted with the severe pandemic overseas in 2021, the Thar project cluster department, under the strong leadership of CMEC, resolutely implemented the general guideline of stabilizing overseas business while boosting its domestic development. All the staff rose the challenge in ensuring the smooth operation of the phase-I project of the Thar power station and the coal mine project as well as the fast advance of the phase-II project of the power station and the coal mine expansion project. Those with outstanding performance include Qi Zhiyong, head of the phase-I project; Jiang Hui, head of the phase-II project; Wang Qingzhu, head of the coal mine project; and Zhang Deping, director of Karachi office, among others.

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Karachi sent a letter of commendation to the Thar Project department for its work achievement through unremitting efforts. The achievement has been highly evaluated by Pakistani governments at all levels and local people, contributing to the development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
