Angola SOYO Power Plant Project Selected as One of Typical Cases of Reducing Pollution and Carbon Emissions

Recently, the 2021 Typical Cases of Collaborative Enhancements for Reducing Pollution and Carbon Emissions under the Belt and Road Initiative (hereinafter referred to as the “Cases”) was released at the annual meeting of the “Belt and Road” Big Data Platform for Environmental Protection Services and the Technology Promotion Conference for Integrated Management of Water Resources and Water Environment in Shenzhen. The CMEC-undertaken Angola SOYO combined-cycle power plant project was selected as one of the Cases with the support of CMEC’s Strategic Development and Coordinated Management Department.

The Cases were collected by the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China (MEE) coupled with the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, the South China Institute of Environmental Sciences under the MEE, the National Center for Strategic Research and International Cooperation on Climate Change of China, and other eight institutions. Through the formal review of application materials, expert review, meeting for demonstration and public announcement, a total of ten typical cases were selected for their typicality, representativeness and promotion value in reducing pollution and carbon emissions.

The Cases have been incorporated into the green technology database of the big data platform for environmental protection services under the “Belt and Road” Initiative. They will be recommended as a priority in technology exchanges domestically and internationally.
