On December 24 local time, boiler hoisting operation was smoothly started for the KOSTOLAC-B Power Station Phase II Project undertaken by CMEC in Serbia, marking that the project has officially entered the installation stage. Zorana Mihajlovic, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Minerals visited the project site on the same day and said, “KOSTOLAC-B power station is very important to Serbia's energy system.”

The boiler of the project is a supercritical variable-pressure once-through boiler with single hearth, primary reheating, balanced ventilation, semi-closed arrangement, wet slag removal, full steel structure and full suspension structure. To ensure the safety of the boiler’s steel structure and the quality of hoisting operation, the project department had done a lot of preparatory work in advance. Many special meetings were held with the owner, supervisor and construction unit to discuss and work out the preparation plan, hoisting scheme, and safety measures. Moreover, the construction machinery was strictly inspected and manpower was reasonably arranged. While putting Covid-19 prevention and control first, all staff of the project department overcame difficulties such as shortage of workers to ensure the safe, standardized, orderly and smooth lifting of the boiler’s steel structure.

With an installed capacity of 350MW, KOSTOLAC-B Power Station Phase II is one of the largest investment projects in Serbia's energy field, and also the first large-scale energy plant built in Serbia in recent thirty years. It is of great significance to the security of the country’s energy system.
