On August 28, the 7th Trade Union Representative Congress of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) was held. Presided over by Chen Sihao, Chair of the 6th Trade Union Representative Congress, it was attended by CMEC Deputy Party Secretary Yu Bo and CFO Zhang Zhiliang and 102 representatives.

Yu, on behalf of the Party Committee of CMEC, made a speech entitled “Fulfill Your Duties and Responsibilities, Set a Good Example, and Open New Prospects for the Reform and Development of CMEC”, fully affirming the work of the trade union over the past six years, and putting forward clear requirements on earnestly fulfilling the responsibilities and tasks, making active contributions to the new era and making efforts to open new prospects for the work of the trade union.

Yu stressed that CMEC’s trade unions at all levels must ensure that employees are masters of CMEC, build a harmonious company, properly handle the affairs of the company. He said that we must both strengthen democratic management and safeguard the rights and interests of employees, both fully motivate the employees to contribute ideas and suggestions and promote reform and development of CMEC, and both raise the employees’ sense of ownership and foster the “family” culture of CMEC, make active efforts to build the “Home of Employees”, and mobilize the employees to play a key role in promoting high-quality development of the company.

Chen, on behalf of the 6th Trade Union Committee of CMEC, made a work report entitled “Faithfully Fulfill our Responsibilities, Strengthen Democracy, and Work Hard to Build a Happy, Harmonious, Better and More Beautiful CMEC”. In his report, Chen summarized the major work of the trade union in the past six years, involving the guiding vision, serving the overall interests and employees, communication, care for women, and targeted poverty alleviation. Meanwhile, he made suggestions on the future work of the trade union from the aspects of effectively enhancing democratic management, effectively increasing the level of the “Home of Employees”, effectively enriching employees’ cultural lives, and opening new prospects for the work of trade union.

At the congress, the members of the trade union committee and its fund audit committee were reelected. The reelection was presided over by Qiao Na, who was elected as chief scrutineer.

After the reelection, the newly-elected 17 members of the 7th Trade Union Committee and the three members of the 7th Fund Audit Committee of the Trade Union held their first meetings, respectively, electing Xiao Jidong as Chair of the 7th Trade Union Committee and Liao Aimin as Director of the 7th Fund Audit Committee of the Trade Union. Xiao made a passionate speech at the congress.

In addition, the congress approved through voting the resolutions of the work reports of the 6th Trade Union Committee and the 6th Fund Audit Committee of the Trade Union.

The congress called upon the members of committees to follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, conscientiously implement the guiding principles of the 19th National Congress of the CPC, the 4th Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the 17th Congress of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, follow the strong leadership of Party Committee of CMEC and the trade union of SINOMACH, unite and mobilize the employees to remain true to their original aspiration, strengthen their readiness to shoulder responsibility, create new opportunities in crisis, open a new situation in the changing situation, and strive to usher in an even better tomorrow for CMEC!
