On February 4, Li Teng, an employee of the Belarus Representative Office of China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC), a subsidiary of CMEC, arrived in Beijing from the Republic of Belarus, bringing with him 236 paper cartons of disposable medical masks, gloves and goggles, which were donated by the Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Belarus in response to the call of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus and the Belarus Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce for donation of medical supplies.

After the medical supplies have been in place, the priority was to deliver the medical supplies to Hubei Province of China. Through extensive consultations, the Representative Office finally decided to designate a person to deliver the first batch of materials to China via the luggage compartments of a specially-approved flight of Air China. Li Teng, who was scheduled to return to China on February 1, changed his air ticket and took the initiative to assume the glorious and arduous task upon learning the news.

The plane is scheduled to take off at 7:00pm. At 1:50pm on the same day, Li and his colleagues of the chamber of commerce brought with them 270 cartons to the airport, where they packed the cartons and made them go through the procedures of security check. However, they had to repack the cartons to accommodate the space-restricted luggage compartments, and finally board the repacked 236 cartons by consignment after four hours of efforts.

After landing in Beijing, Li communicated with officers of Beijing Customs, who decided to simplify the customs clearance procedures and open a priority channel after knowing the situation. Also, Li contacted with service staff at the airport to pick up the materials, and loaded all the materials to the handcarts. The whole process ranging from handling, counting to loading requires quick and steady actions. When the 24 small handcarts printed with “donation of medical supplies” appeared at the customs, the scene attracted the attention of many tourists, some of them could not help applauding at the airport terminal, showing that they firmly believe that the Chinese will surely win the battle against the Corona Virus Disease 19 (COVID-19)!

After more than two hours of busy work at the airport, Li went through the procedures of customs clearance. He was received by Gao Yuan, Director of the Chinese Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Belarus, at the arrival hall. The materials, with a value of RMB560,000, were transferred to SINOTRANS North China Co., Ltd., arrived at Xianyang on the night of February 5, received by Xianyang Charity Federation on the early morning of February 6, and sent rapidly to the frontline for epidemic prevention and control. Li is now quarantining himself at home in Beijing. The 236 luggage bills record the whole process of the transportation and customs clearance of the cartons. He thanked all relevant personnel for their strong supports and were convinced that we can overcome any difficulties as long as we make concerted efforts! He feels relaxed now as the rescue materials have been used by frontline doctors and nurses who are fighting against the epidemic in China.

On December 8, 2019, the first novel coronavirus case has been reported in Wuhan. Since General Secretary Xi Jinping made an important instruction on the prevention and control of the epidemic on January 20, 2020, the epidemic has stimulated the nerves of the Chinese people at home and abroad. It is a war against every Chinese. CNEEC, after the war started, tried all out to make deployments and perform its responsibilities. All employees of CNEEC stick to their posts in daily work, come forward in emergency, and take concrete actions to support Wuhan and China!

Now, we are going all out to combat the COVID-19 and firmly believe that the Chinese people will win the battle!
