CMEC set up the First Regional Center in Africa

Zhang Chun, CMEC Chairman and Party Committee Secretary, led a delegation to conduct business exchanges in Nairobi, Kenya and visit the KIPETO wind power project in Kenya from November 14 to 16, accompanied by Deputy General Manager Fang Yanshui, Deputy General Manager Fan Rong, Chief Engineer Li Baolin and some other leaders.

On November 14, Chairman Zhang Chun lead a delegation to meet Mr. Stefan VanNiekerk, CEO of KIPETO Energy PLC, the owner of KIPETO wind power project, Mr. Guo Ce, Minister-Counselor of Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of Chinese Embassy in Kenya, and Mr. Wu Peng, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya successively.

At the meeting with the owner of KIPETO wind power project, the owner's CEO Stefan VanNiekerk spoke highly of CMEC's hard efforts in the implementation of the project. Chairman Zhang Chun expressed his thanks for it and pointed out that CMEC will continue to be devoted to the implementation of the project, and is willing to cooperate with KIPETO Energy PLC in more projects in the new energy area.

After that, the delegation led by Chairman Zhang Chun met Minister-Counselor Mr. Guo Ce and Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Mr. Wu Peng respectively. Zhang Chun thanked the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of Chinese Embassy in Kenya and the Embassy of China in Kenya for their support to CMEC over the years. He said, CMEC will continue to conduct business in the African market. CMEC will set up "CMEC's First Regional Center in Africa" in Kenya to implement the strategy of regionalization and localization, promote business transformation of CMEC in the region and explore new modes of business development. Mr. Guo Ce spoke highly of CMEC's excellent business performance in the Kenyan market and business transformation mode in the African region. He said, he will support and help CMEC in its business development in Kenya as always. Ambassador Wu Peng fully affirmed CMEC's development strategy in the Kenyan market and active participation in the third-party cooperation. He hoped that CMEC can make use of the regional platform to give play to its advantages and make greater achievements in the African market.

Chairman Zhang Chun led a delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony of "CMEC's First Regional Center in Africa" at 9:00 local time on the morning of November 15, and inaugurated it in person. Mr. Stefan VanNiekerk, CEO of the owner of KIPETO wind power project, Mr. Farid Fezoua, CEO of GE Africa, Mr. Wu Peng, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, and important partners of CMEC in the African energy area were invited to attend the ceremony.

Later, President Zhang Chun attended the CMEC-GE Strategic Exchange. CMEC and GE conducted in-depth exchanges around the joint development of the African market, further strengthening the all-around partnerships between both parties in Africa.

On November 16, Chairman Zhang Chun led a delegation to visit the KIPETO wind power project in Kenya. They visited the foundation pouring of wind turbine, installation of wind turbine towers and construction of wind farm booster station on site successively, and listened to the report about the overall conditions of the KIPETO wind power project. Chairman Zhang Chun affirmed the overall work of the KIPETO wind power project, and put forward higher requirements for the following execution. He hoped that the project department could continue to be committed to the standardization and high-quality management and complete the project as scheduled.

After that, the project department held the "Establishment Ceremony for On-site Party Branch of KIPETO Wind Power Project". Firstly, CMEC Deputy General Manager Fang Yanshui read out the resolution of CMEC Party Committee on the establishment of on-site Party branch before all the Party members on site. Then, Secretary Zhang Chun gave the first Party lecture to all the Party members and managers on site after the establishment of the Party branch.

Lastly, Chairman Zhang Chun and some other personnel attended the "Celebration Ceremony for Installation of the First Wind Turbine and Commendation of Young Employees" on the project site. Chairman Zhang Chun presented awards to outstanding young employees born after the 1990s on site and encouraged them to keep working hard, persist in strict control of quality and production safety, and complete the project as scheduled.
