On October 14, a delegation headed by CMEC Zhang Jianguo visited the Ocean University of China (OUC) in Qingdao. Founded in 1924, OUC is a key comprehensive university of China’s “Project 985”. It has a full range of disciplines with distinctive features and boasts over 70 technological results in marine biological medicine, development and manufacturing of high-end marine equipment, ocean engineering, big data and AI, marine new energy, and new materials, etc. A dozen of professors and responsible persons of different departments of the OUC attended the meeting. The two sides made in-depth communication on the basis of mutual understanding mainly in the field of marine biological medicine, big health, marine engineering and machineries, deep sea farming, information science, and marine new energy, etc.

Zhang said that the OUC’s “ocean science” discipline has great advantages, suggesting that the two sides carry out all-round cooperation in the field of ocean engineering, give play to their respective advantages and make contributions to regional contributions. He said that the two sides should create business opportunities in overseas market, especially the countries along the “Maritime Silk Road”, and achieve common development. Next, the two sides should establish a liaison mechanism for carrying out more intensive and targeted cooperation and communications as soon as possible. Afterwards, the delegation visited the Marine Biomedical Research Institute of Qingdao to gain a better understanding of the research contents and results of marine biomedicine.
