On September 4, CMEC General Manager and Deputy Party Secretary Han Xiaojun carried out an investigation on the site of the Salah-Aldeen 2X630MW Oil/Gas-fired Power Plant in Iraq.

Deputy Director Serwan of the Northern Power Production Department of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity affirmed the work of the Chinese construction team on the site of the Salah-Aldeen Power Station undertaken by CMEC. The two sides communicated on the construction progress of the project and the off-site 400kV power transmission framework. Deputy Director Serwan said that the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity would fully support the construction work at the Salah-Aldeen site.

General Manager Han said CMEC would mobilize more resources to invest in the project team, hoping that with the joint efforts of China and Iraq, the Salah-Aldeen power station project would become a high-quality project benefiting the Iraqi people.

Afterward, the delegation inspected the site of the Salah-Aldeen Power Station, attended the opening ceremony of the 400kV booster station road, and took photos with China’s national flag at the site to wish the great motherland prosperity.

On the afternoon of the same day, GM Han and his delegation listened to the work report and Party building report of the on-site management department.

After listening to the report, GM Han affirmed the construction progress one year after the resumption of work on the site, saying that Iraq is an important country along the Belt and Road routes and CMEC should shoulder the responsibility of a central enterprise to forge ahead. Han pointed out that Iraq still in the reconstruction is in a state of power shortage. CMEC, as a responsible large-scale state-owned enterprise, strives to complete the Salah-Aldeen project as planned so as to contribute to the development of Iraq and benefit its people. Meanwhile, on the premise of ensuring the quality of the project, workplace safe and overseas safety should be guaranteed.

Han proposed that, as the Party building at overseas building sites has its particularity, we should increase the communication with the embassy in the follow-up work, strengthen the on-site Party building, and combine it with the business closely. It is hoped that the project team will further enrich the activities of the Party branch and encourage the employees to follow the working concept of “being an honest person, playing a competent role in work, working hard, and living happily.”

Whether it is the hardships of expanding business or the glory of success, CMEC’s overseas members always have a kind of great strength behind them. The arrival of General Manager Han Xiaojun has reaffirmed the confidence of the employees striving to make the Salah-Aldeen project a model of the Belt and Road Initiative. The project team is confident and determined to use the Salah-Aldeen project as a pivot to expand the new market growth points of Iraq. On-site builders will continue to forge ahead and remain true to their original aspiration.

Fan Rong, Deputy General Manager of CMEC, and Wang Yili, Assistant to General Manager, also attended the above activities.
