CMEC Signs JDA on Investment in Mozambican NCONDEZI 300MW Coal-fired Power Project

On July 22, CMEC, GE and Ncondezi Energy signed the joint development agreement (JDA) on investment in the Mozambican Ncondezi 300MW Coal-fired Power project. As the first large-scale coal-fired project of Mozambique, it is expected to give a strong push to enhancing electric power supply of Mozambique, accelerating the development of oil & gas resources in northern Mozambique and driving local economic development. Both the Chinese and Mozambican governments have been paying close attention to the project.

In accordance with the agreement, CMEC and GE will guide the development of the project and advance its implementation by using their respective experience in project development and advantageous resources in southern Africa. The signing of the agreement indicates that the cooperation between CMEC and GE has shifted from the traditional EPC cooperation to a new stage for project development.

CMEC President Han Xiaojun, GE Steam Power President & CEO Michael Keroulle and Ncondezi Non-Executive Chairman Haworth Michael John signed the JDA. CMEC Vice President Fang Yanshui, GE Steam Power Commercial General Manager Sacha Parneix, GE Steam Power Africa Commercial General Manager George Njenga, and Ncondezi Chief Development Officer Hanno Pengilly attended the signing ceremony.
