On the afternoon of May 31, General Manager Han Xiaojun and Deputy General Manager Fan Rong met with Chinese Ambassador to Uruguay Wang Gang and Commercial Counsellor Zhou Quan in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. General Manager Han first introduced CMEC’s progress in establishing a subsidiary and expanding the market in Uruguay to the Ambassador.

Ambassador Wang Gang and Counsellor Zhou Quan warmly welcomed the CMEC delegation. Ambassador Wang Gang said that China is Uruguay's largest trading partner. As the first country in the Union of South American Nations to sign the Belt and Road Initiative memorandum of understanding with China, Uruguay is ahead of other South American countries in terms of cooperation with China. Therefore, the two countries will seize the historical opportunity and proactively carry out cooperation in related fields. General Manager Han Xiaojun replied that CMEC would base itself on the establishment of Uruguayan subsidiaries, carry out in-depth territorial management, and respond positively to the call of the state so as to make contributions to Uruguay's infrastructure construction in the areas of transportation, electricity, and energy under the Belt and Road Initiative. The two sides also held in-depth discussions on Uruguay's market development and other issues. Ambassador Wang Gang and Counsellor Zhou Quan both expressed their full support for CMEC.
