Premier Li Keqiang Witnesses CMEC’s Signing of Commercial Contract on Bulgarian Port Construction

On April 12, 2019, themed with "Building New Bridges through Openness, Innovation and Partnership", the 8th Summit of China and Central and Eastern European Countries was held in Dubrovnik of Croatia. During the summit, CMEC Deputy Party Secretary and President Han Xiaojun, witnessed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi as well as leaders of Central and Eastern European countries, signed the commercial contract on port construction in Bulgaria on behalf of CMEC.
  
The project is the first port construction project invested by a Chinese company in Bulgaria and an infrastructure & connectivity project in Central and Eastern Europe under the “Belt & Road” initiative. It is also Bulgaria’s first modern port with warehousing capacity.
  
The completion of the port is expected to significantly enhance the level of modernization and cargo handling capacity of Bulgarian ports. Meanwhile, the project will contribute to rising the influence and popularity of CMEC in the markets of Bulgaria and other central and eastern European countries.
