VP Fang Yanshui Attends Opening Ceremony of CDB’s Astana Representative Office
On the morning of October 15, 2018, Vice President Fang Yanshui was invited to attend the opening ceremony of Astana Representative Office of China Development Bank (CDB) and met with Chinese Ambassador Zhang Xiao and Counsellor Wang Jian in Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, VP Fang Yanshui briefed Chinese Ambassador and Counsellor on CMEC’s overall operation in Kazakhstan, the completed Karaganda 3# Thermal Power Station, and the ongoing coal mine project and agricultural development project.
Ambassador Zhang Xiao said Kazakhstan was the first country to initiate the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI). Now, there are frequent high-level visits between the two countries, and production capacity cooperation is gradually advancing. Kazakhstan mentioned the BRI in its State of the Union address. It will also provide more investment and policy support for agriculture and infrastructure projects. Ambassador Zhang hoped that CMEC could seize the opportunity and give full play to its advantages to promote these two projects as soon as possible.
After the meeting, VP Fang met with the owner and shareholders of the coal mine project. Both sides exchanged views on the current progress of the project and confirmed the next plan through negotiation.
Zhang Qingbin, General Manager of CMEC Hubei, and other leaders attended the meeting.
