The inspection team held a number of seminars and listened to the reports on project progress and Party building given by the project leaders. Wang Xiyan praised the Party building work and onsite management of the two overseas projects, and delivered a lecture titled “Keep Improving Work Style under the Guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” to the Party members and applicants. He also required the project departments to effectively incorporate Party building and anti-corruption into project implementation, strengthen education and management of key links and key posts, establish the “red line” discipline awareness and “bottom line thinking”, and increase efforts in improving integrity and fighting corruption to ensure the overseas projects proceed in a clean and efficient manner. The inspection team also attended the ceremony for the establishment of the Party branch of the Cote d’Ivoire project.

 

In addition, the inspection team examined the financial statements and regulations related to the projects, asked relevant personnel about regulated performance of duty and integrity, and made a spot check on the enforcement of relevant regulations and the situation of onsite internal control and risk prevention and control of projects.

 

On May 25, the inspection team met with Tang Weibin, Chinese Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire. The two sides conducted in-depth communication on the operations of SINOMACH in Cote d’Ivoire, and the work on Party building and discipline inspection. 

 

CMEC will take the opportunity of the inspection to strengthen Party building, improve Party conduct and moral integrity, and effectively combat corruption in overseas projects, and bring into full play the role of primary-level Party organizations and Party members, thus making new contributions to the development of SINOMACH and the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative.
