CMEC Signs its First H-Class Gas Turbine Combined-Cycle Power Plant Project
“After recent years’ unremitting efforts, the power shortage of Pakistan has been gradually relieved, which is impossible without such Chinese enterprises as CMEC. I congratulateCMEC for its signing of the EPC contract and wish a complete success in the project,” said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Fang said CMEC was the first Chinese firm working in Pakistan’s power sector. "CMEC has completed several power plant projects including Guddu, Jamshoro, Muzaffargarh andSaif projects, Tenaga wind power project, as well as the Thar mining & power project in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. We thank the chief minister and the government of Punjab for its trust on CMEC, and we pledge to complete the project with the highest quality and speed and bring electricity to the people of Punjab,” said Fang.
As the general contractor of the project, CMEC is responsible for design, material supply, civil engineering, construction, training, adjustment and quality assurance of the project, with an estimated contract amount of USD520 million. The SGT5-8000H heavy-duty gas turbine used in this project is the world's first air-cooled H-class heavy-duty gas turbine. As the first H-class gas turbine power plant undertaken by CMEC, the project is of strategic significance to exploring the traditional market of Pakistan and enhancing CMEC’s performance and influence in the field of power project contracting, especially in the field of large gas turbine.
